Andretti Global announced Oct. 9 that James Roe will return to its INDY NXT by Firestone team to drive the No. 29 TopCon Dallara for the 2024 season.
Roe is the first to be confirmed to the team’s 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone driver lineup.
After a partial 2022 INDY NXT by Firestone season that saw him score four top-10 finishes in 11 starts, Roe made his full-season debut in the development series in 2023 with the Andretti team. The 14-race 2023 season saw Roe score his first INDY NXT by Firestone podium on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course along with four top-five and 10 top-10 finishes.
“I'm extremely happy to be staying with Andretti Global for 2024,” Roe said. “The Andretti INDY NXT team feels like family to both our partners and myself. We've already enjoyed some fantastic moments together, and I'm sure we are going to create many more. Thank you to all involved for placing their trust in me, and I’m looking forward to the 2024 season.”
Irish driver Roe began his American racing journey in 2018 in the F2000 Championship Series before moving into the FIA Formula Regional Americas Championship and Indy Pro 2000 championship.
“We’re happy to welcome James back to our INDY NXT team – it’s a great feeling to kick off the 2024 season with a familiar face back in the mix,” said J-F Thormann, Andretti Global president. “James showed consistency and pace throughout last season, and his experience in this series is going to be an asset for the whole Andretti INDY NXT team. We’re excited to see him build on the success he saw throughout 2023, and we’re hopeful he can make it to the top step of the podium this season.”
Roe will kick off his 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone campaign at the Chris Griffis Memorial Test on Oct. 20 on the IMS road course.
