TORONTO -- Spencer Pigot re-entered the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires championship discussion after a sweep of the Cooper Tires Grand Prix of Toronto Powered by Mazda doubleheader.
The 21-year-old Juncos Racing driver earned his third and fourth victories of the season and 21st and 22nd in the Mazda Road to Indy program.
“To get two wins -- and to get some points back -- is great for the Juncos team," said Pigot, who closed to within 11 points of championship leader Jack Harvey with six races left.
Harvey, of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports with Curb-Agajanian, was runner-up in both races and has 18 podium finishes in two Indy Lights seasons.
Carlin’s Ed Jones, who won the first three races of the season, placed third in Race 2 that was shortened from the scheduled 45 laps to 30 because of a pelting rain. Pigot’s Juncos Racing teammate, Kyle Kaiser, finished third in Race 1.
