Christian Brooks, a race winner in the USF Pro 2000 Championship, will make his INDY NXT by Firestone debut with HMD Motorsports at the Grand Prix of Monterey on June 22-23, staying with the team for the rest of the season.
Deploy Surveillance is supporting Brooks, 23, a California native, in the No. 39 HMD Motorsports car.
“This is a dream come true and an amazing opportunity for me,” Brooks said. “My goal is ultimately the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, but this is the next step in the climb to achieve that, and I couldn’t be more excited than to do that with HMD Motorsports and with the support of Deploy Surveillance.”
Brooks is fourth in the USF Pro 2000 standings and will continue his pursuit of that championship while racing in INDY NXT by Firestone with HMD. He is only 14 points behind second place. He will pull “double duty” in both series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in July and Portland International Raceway in August.
HMD added Brooks to its driver lineup as Nolan Siegel, who drove for the team since the start of the 2023 season, joined Arrow McLaren on June 18 as a full-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver (see HMD statement below).
“Christian is a talent, and that has been proven all the way back to when I watched him in karting,” HMD President Mike Maurini said. “He has moved through the ranks with some success, and now, with the proper funding program in place and a clear path to where he wants to go, he will be a real threat for race wins, podium results, and championships for years to come.”
Brooks will participate in his first INDY NXT oval test June 28 at Iowa Speedway.
